I am so excited to be returning to the Newport Boat Show! This Newport Boat Show has always been very special right on the waterfront of historic and beautiful Newport, Rhode Island!
This year will be better than ever for the seminar attendees. The Newport Boat Show has arranged for the seminars to be held in the beautiful old building, the Seaman’s Church Institute, right on Market Square in the heart of the boat show area. For anyone who knows about the waterfront in Newport, the wonderful Seaman’s Church Institute is right at the head of Bowen’s Wharf. The room for seminars is in the upstairs fascinating library that has every book imaginable that was ever written about the sea, modern and historic. I just love this room and what a great place to be able to pass along information about our love of the sea and all the boats that take us on our cruising adventures.
The library in the Seaman’s Church Institute is not very big. So, it will be necessary to register early, to be assured a seat in the seminars of your choice. No one will be able to attend these seminars unless they make a reservation. Already people are reserving their places for one or more of these seminars.
The schedule is here for you to make your plans:
Friday, the 13th!!!! 11:00am until Noon “Cool Products No One Knows About” This seminar will give you a lot of ideas of what little known products I have found are so good to have aboard. You will be surprised how many great items there are for your boat that you had no idea existed. I only suggest really cool items that I found and used myself, and now cannot live without. We purposely arranged this early seminar so you could find many of these unknown products right at the boat show. Come and see what I really like and use and you will be happy to find out about these great additions to your boat.
Friday, the 13th 1:00pm until 2:00pm “Hurricane Preparation in Port” Anyone cruising in hurricane or cyclone belts, will want to come to this seminar. With all the sailing I have done, our boat KANDARIK has lived through 5 major hurricanes. Learn from me what we did in the first hurricane that saved us in the second, and other hurricanes culminating in Cat. 5 Hurricane FLOYD in the Bahamas, and just two years ago in IRMA right in our home port! I sincerely hope many come to learn from our mistakes and what we did right to protect our beloved KANDARIK.
Friday, the 13th 3;00pm until 5:00pm “Outfitting for Blue Water Sailing” This will be a very interesting seminar for anyone wanting to outfit their boat to make it more efficient, safer, and more fun. After all the years of sailing KANDARIK across the oceans of the world, I have learned what I feel is very important for the comfort, convenience, and safetly of sailing your boat. All these ideas did not originate in my mind. I learned them from so many other people, tried them, and if they worked then I loved them. If they didn’t work, I would never recommend them. So come with me and see what I think would help to make your time aboard much more practical!
Saturday, the 14th 11:00am until 12:00 “Cool Products No One Knows About” in case you missed it on Friday. See above.
Saturday, the 14th 1:00pm until 2:00pm “A Family Sails Around the World” Can you guess this is my favorite? Come join me and Andy, Samantha and Jamie, as we sail KANDARIK around the world. I hope this time with us will give you the greatest desire to sail your boat as much as you can and always know you can see the world from your cockpit and sleep in your own bunk! This is a circumnavigation for children of all ages!!!!

I have made this voyage now 4 times, and it is always wonderful.
It is my sincere hope to see you and my desire to have you come along with me in these seminars. I want to help everyone I can have a fantastic life aboard their boats. What a great ride it has been for me!
