I have a Happy Announcement!!!
It has been a couple of years since I have not been working at West Marine. It has been difficult for me because I loved my outfitting and consulting job that I had for so many years. I have had the wonderful luck of continuing this exact kind of work from the comfort of my home, still helping people around the world outfitting their boats and helping them with cruising information. It has been a nice transformation for me, although I never had foreseen this happening.
This week I have a “Happy Announcement” to share with you all. I am beginning a new experience in my life and I am very excited about it. Along with my West Marine sponsored seminars, presentations and consulting, I will also be working with the well-known yachtsman and yachtswoman and authors, Steve and Linda Dashew .
Steve and Linda are famous for their sailboat creations─the Deerfoot, Sundeer and Beowulf series─that revolutionized sailboats. They have written eight books that we all refer to today: The “Offshore Cruising Encyclopedia” and other books they have written are probably on the bookshelves of your boats!
Now Steve and Linda have taken the same concepts and are creating Functional Power Boats, FPBs, constructed of aluminum and built in New Zealand. These revolutionary ocean-crossing yachts are blue water, high latitude and long ocean passage-making powerboats. I have included a link below so you can see and understand these unique concepts.
I am thrilled and honored to let you all know I will be working with Steve and Linda to assist their owners outfit their boats, suggest cruising information, and be an open ear for their needs as they outfit and then cruise in their FPB powerboats.
I will be touring the boat-building facility in New Zealand next month and will certainly let you know more about this new breed of powerboats. It is very exciting. I have no doubt this will be a new experience for me that suits me─and the FPB owners─to a ‘T’!
Take a good long look at the Dashew website: www.setsail.com and be sure to look at all the marvelous “Videos and Slide Shows” that Steve and Linda have posted. I especially like the videos of WIND HORSE, Steve and Linda’s FPB. Watch and see how well-suited these boats are to all cruising areas and how they ride so beautifully in all sea conditions. Amazing!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me for so many years. You all mean so much to me.
-Pam
